What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?
Your massage practitioner will require you to fill out a health history form. Afterwards the practitioner will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on, if there are any conditions needing to be addressed and to determine if massage is appropriate for you. Your massage practitioner may perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition, and to see if you have any presenting complaints.
What is the different between Thai massage and Swedish massage?
Thai massage is performed on the mat that put on floor to allow practitioner to stretch customer. There is no lotion or oil involve. Customer will be fully clothed. The technique using point pressure on the energy line (sen) and combine with stretching. The practitioner gently moves customer into yoga like pose, tight joints are opened, energy flows freely and breathing is enhanced. After the session you will feel relax and rejuvenate in the same time feel awaken and energize.
Swedish massage is performed on a table. Customer will be disrobed in order for practitioner to apply lotion or oil on their body. In a general Swedish massage, the session may start with broad, flowing strokes (effleurage) that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension.
Will Thai massage hurt?
Everyone's threshold of pain is different. Some people want lighter work to help them relax. Others prefer deeper work regardless of the soreness. Deep massage on tight, chronically contracted muscles may feel good and bad at the same time. Be sure to make your pressure preference known to your practitioner and don't hesitate to give feedback if you would like the pressure and depth of stretching adjusted.
How will I feel after the massage therapy treatment?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity, which can last for days.
What should I do after my massage?
we recommended that you drink plenty of water before and after massage and spa treatments. Because massage and spa sessions help clear metabolic wastes by increasing the circulation rate of blood and lymph, these chemical reactions require water - which then needs to be replenished. Massage practitioners sometimes recommend a hot Epsom salt bath that encourages the release of toxins that may release from the massage treatment.
What shall I do during the massage?
Always report any discomfort you feel. This includes room temperature, lighting, volume of music, or any other distractions. Make sure you feel comfortable and ease on the table and mat. If the massage is too light or too hard, ask to have the pressure changed. Many clients feel comfortable talking as the massage commences. Then, as their brain’s electrochemical activity shifts from the beta state into a relaxed alpha wave state, or further into the very positive, free-flowing theta state, they slip ever deeper into peaceful bliss.
